THE END

Last week when i was penning down the review of Anand and had mentioned about hrishi da's deteriorating state of health, little did i know that i would be writing about his death a week later..but as i had said hrishi da's whole life was a celebration of life...so there is no point of crying on his death..as Dr. Bhaskar Banerjee (Babu moshai)had said ..

Anand mara nahi..
Anand marte nahii..

Hrishi da will continue to live on for ages, inspiring new filmmakers, introducing starry eyed teenagers to the world of bollywood, Chupke Chupke will still make millions laugh and Anand will still make millions cry.....
This is not supposed to be a filmography or obituary...i don't intend to list down all the great works of hrishi da, but as one could see photos of all the stars starting from Amitabh to Jaya ji to dharam ji with moist eyes all over the newspapers,we have to realise the reach of the great man..there will never be another Chupke Chupke nor a satyakam...but as isa bhai says in Anand...

"Yahin milunga Jaychand....itni jaldi parda girne nahi dunga..
itni jaldi parda girne nahi dunga.."

..yeh parda kabhie nahi girega hrishi da...

meanwhile another great maestro Ustad Bismillah khan also passed away last week, although he had passed on to oblivion since long. One of the very few persons to recieve all the highest awards from bharat ratna to padma awards..he symbolized sehnai for a generation of indians..

both men had great similarities note worthly in thier humbleness and simplicity...Today as India suffers from a great cultural identity crisis ,these apostles of Indian culture have left abode, perhaps to enchant a new world with thier art...

apnii soii hui duniaa ko jagaa luun to chaluun..
apne GhamKhane men ek dhuum machaa lunn to chaluun
aur ek jaam-e-ma’e talkh charha luun to chaluun....
abhi chaltaa huun zara khud ko sambhaaluun to chaluun!!

merii aankhon men abhi tak hai mohabbat ka ghuruur,
mere honton ko abhii tak hai sadaaqat kar ghuruur...
mere maathe pe abhii tak hai sharaafat ka ghuruur,
aise vahmon se Khud ko nikaalun to chaluun....

A great loss to india i should say!
I belive it is impossible to give anybody even halgf the dose of clean laughter that chupke chupke had given us!!
Regarding Bismillah Khan, I have never seen a bengali shaadi as yet in which they don't play bismmillah khan's shehnai! He will never die amongst us!
